Pittman, Dutton, Hellums, Bradley & Mann, P.C. is reviewing a data breach incident involving Sax, LLP that may have exposed sensitive personal information belonging to more than 228,000 individuals.
Sax, LLP reported that it detected unusual activity within its network on August 7, 2024. Following the discovery, the firm initiated an internal investigation to determine whether its systems had been compromised.
That investigation later revealed that certain files may have been accessed or obtained by an unauthorized party. After completing its review, Sax began notifying affected individuals on December 16, 2025.
The information impacted by the breach varies depending on the individual. However, Sax has indicated that the exposed data may include highly sensitive identifiers such as dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state identification numbers, and passport numbers. Exposure of this type of information can place individuals at serious risk for identity theft and fraud.
When core identifying information is compromised, it can be used for a wide range of fraudulent activity. Victims of similar breaches often report unauthorized charges, fraudulent credit applications, misuse of medical or government benefits, and an increase in scam calls, texts, and phishing emails.
In some cases, stolen data is sold or traded on underground marketplaces, creating long-term risks even years after the initial incident.
If you received a notification from Sax, LLP or have noticed suspicious activity involving your personal or financial accounts since August 2024, it is important to remain vigilant. Monitoring accounts, reviewing credit reports, and responding quickly to signs of fraud may help limit potential damage.
