Goshen Medical Center Data Breach Impacts More Than 456,000 Patients

Pittman, Dutton, Hellums, Bradley & Mann, P.C. is investigating a significant data breach involving Goshen Medical Center, a federally qualified healthcare provider serving patients across eastern North Carolina. The incident has potentially compromised the personal and protected health information of 456,385 individuals.

What Happened In This Data Breach?

On March 4, 2025, Goshen Medical Center detected suspicious activity within its computer systems. An investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts confirmed that an unauthorized party had gained access to its network and may have viewed or acquired files on February 15, 2025.

A comprehensive review of the compromised files was completed on September 12, 2025, confirming that sensitive patient data had been exposed.

What Information Was Exposed In This Data Breach?

The investigation determined that the following information may have been accessed:

  • Names
  • Addresses
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Medical record numbers

This combination of personal identifiers and health-related data puts victims at risk of both identity theft and medical fraud.

In response to the incident, Goshen Medical Center has implemented additional security measures to strengthen its systems and prevent similar events in the future. The organization has also begun notifying affected individuals and is offering up to 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.
