Pittman, Dutton, Hellums, Bradley & Mann, P.C. is investigating a data breach involving Ericsson Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of a global telecommunications company, following a cybersecurity incident tied to a third-party service provider.
Ericsson recently disclosed that a vendor it works with experienced a security incident that resulted in unauthorized access to certain data. According to reports, the incident was linked to a vishing attack, a type of social engineering scheme in which attackers use deceptive phone calls to gain access to sensitive systems.
The service provider identified suspicious activity on April 28, 2025, and promptly launched an investigation with the assistance of cybersecurity professionals. Law enforcement was notified, passwords were reset, and steps were taken to secure the affected systems. The investigation determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed certain data between April 17 and April 22, 2025.
Ericsson was notified of the incident on November 10, 2025, and worked with the vendor to identify affected individuals. The review process was completed on February 23, 2026.
While the company has stated that there is no confirmed evidence of misuse at this time, the exposure of sensitive personal information still presents potential risks.
The information involved in this breach may include personal identifiers such as names and Social Security numbers, along with other types of personally identifiable information.
This type of data can be used to commit identity theft, open fraudulent accounts, file false tax returns, or engage in other forms of financial fraud.
When Social Security numbers and other personal identifiers are exposed, the risk of identity theft can persist for years. Even if the information has not yet been misused, it may still be retained or sold by unauthorized parties.
Individuals affected by this type of breach may face risks such as financial fraud, account takeovers, and targeted phishing attempts.
Ericsson and its service provider maintain personal information relating to employees, customers, and other individuals, which can increase the potential impact of this type of incident.
If you received a notification letter regarding this breach, it is important to take steps to protect your information. Monitoring your credit reports, reviewing financial accounts, and enrolling in any identity protection services offered can help reduce your risk.
Ericsson is offering affected individuals complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services for a limited time.
Companies that collect and store sensitive personal information have a responsibility to safeguard that data. When a failure in security leads to exposure, affected individuals may have legal options.
Pittman, Dutton, Hellums, Bradley & Mann, P.C. is actively investigating the Ericsson data breach and evaluating potential claims on behalf of those impacted.
