Central Kentucky Radiology Data Breach Exposes Sensitive Patient Information

Pittman, Dutton, Hellums, Bradley & Mann, P.C. is actively investigating a data breach involving Central Kentucky Radiology (“CKR”), a Lexington-based imaging practice. The breach, which was recently disclosed to patients and regulatory authorities, may have compromised the personal and medical information of an unknown number of individuals.

What Happened In This Data Breach?

On October 18, 2024, CKR detected a network disruption and immediately launched an investigation. A forensic analysis later confirmed that between October 16 and October 18, 2024, an unauthorized party gained access to certain systems and extracted files containing private patient information.

CKR completed its review of the affected data on May 7, 2025—nearly seven months after the breach occurred. Notification letters are now being sent to those whose information was involved.

The compromised files may include:

• Mailing address
• Date of birth
• Social Security number
• Date of medical services
• Medical service charges
• Other personal or health-related details

This type of information is frequently used in identity theft and medical fraud schemes, which can result in long-term consequences for victims.

CKR’s Response

CKR has offered 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring through TransUnion and has stated it is implementing enhanced cybersecurity protections. The incident has also been reported to federal law enforcement agencies.
