Pittman, Dutton, Hellums, Bradley & Mann, P.C. is reviewing reports of a data security incident involving the Center for Advanced Eye Care, an ophthalmology provider serving patients in Delaware and Pennsylvania. Individuals whose personal or medical information was exposed in this breach may have legal rights and could be eligible to pursue compensation.
The Center for Advanced Eye Care reported that it discovered a cybersecurity issue on December 16, 2025, after learning that an unauthorized individual had accessed one of its legacy computer systems. After detecting the intrusion, the organization secured the affected system and retained outside cybersecurity professionals to investigate the incident and determine the scope of the exposure.
The investigation concluded that certain protected health information stored in the legacy system had been accessed without authorization. Following the discovery, the practice conducted a detailed review to identify which individuals were affected and what types of information may have been compromised. The process of identifying impacted individuals was completed on February 13, 2026.
According to a report filed with the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, the breach may have involved highly sensitive data. The information potentially accessed includes Social Security numbers and medical records. Exposure of this type of information can create serious risks, including identity theft, medical fraud, and misuse of personal health data.
Healthcare organizations are responsible for safeguarding the sensitive information entrusted to them. When protected health information and Social Security numbers are exposed in a cybersecurity incident, affected individuals may face long-term privacy risks and financial harm. Even when misuse has not yet occurred, stolen information may circulate for years and be used in fraudulent activity.
