Pittman, Dutton, Hellums, Bradley & Mann, P.C. is investigating a data security incident involving Bell Ambulance, Inc. that may have exposed sensitive personal information belonging to patients.
Bell Ambulance reported that an unauthorized individual gained access to certain data within its computer network, prompting a detailed cybersecurity investigation. The organization first discovered suspicious activity on February 13, 2025 and immediately engaged third-party forensic specialists to analyze the scope of the incident and determine what information may have been involved.
The investigation confirmed that unauthorized access had occurred. Bell Ambulance then began reviewing its systems and records to identify which individuals may have been affected and what information was exposed.
Notification letters were sent to impacted individuals in multiple phases. The first round of notifications was issued on April 18, 2025. A second round followed on January 15, 2026 after additional information was identified. Bell Ambulance reports that its review of the affected data was completed on February 20, 2026.
Bell Ambulance is one of the largest private ambulance providers in Wisconsin. The company operates multiple service locations across Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Kenosha counties and employs more than 750 individuals.
Bell Ambulance responds to more than 140,000 emergency and medical transport calls each year and provides advanced life support and critical care transport services.
Because ambulance providers collect personal and medical information while delivering emergency services, they maintain highly sensitive patient data that must be protected from unauthorized access.
The data involved in the incident may include personally identifiable information associated with patients. While the specific information varies by individual, compromised data may include names and other personal identifying details.
Exposure of personal data held by healthcare providers can increase the risk of identity theft, financial fraud, or medical identity misuse.
Following the discovery of the breach, Bell Ambulance implemented several security measures designed to strengthen its systems and prevent further unauthorized access. These measures included password resets, additional account protections, and a comprehensive investigation conducted by cybersecurity professionals.
Bell Ambulance is also offering affected individuals complimentary identity protection services through IDX. Depending on eligibility, individuals may receive either 12 or 24 months of credit monitoring and identity protection services. These services must be activated using the enrollment code provided in the breach notification letter.
When healthcare organizations experience data breaches, the risks can extend beyond typical identity theft. Personally identifiable information, often referred to as PII, includes details that uniquely identify an individual. If this information is accessed by cybercriminals, it may be used to open fraudulent accounts, file false tax returns, or commit other financial crimes.
In some cases, medical-related data may also be exposed. Protected health information, commonly known as PHI, includes information related to a person’s medical care and treatment. When PHI is combined with other personal identifiers, criminals may attempt to obtain medical services or insurance benefits under another person’s identity.
If you received a data breach notification from Bell Ambulance, your personal information may have been involved in this incident. Pittman, Dutton, Hellums, Bradley & Mann, P.C. is reviewing potential claims related to the Bell Ambulance data breach and speaking with individuals whose information may have been compromised.
