Lucas was born in Valdosta, Georgia and grew up outside Atlanta. As a four year recipient of the Hope Scholarship, he attended the University of Georgia where he graduated in 2003 with a B.S. in Social Science Education. Lucas spent the next three years teaching and coaching at a metro Atlanta public high school.
In the fall of 2006, Lucas entered Cumberland School of Law. In his first trial competition with Cumberland's National Trial Team, Lucas was awarded for the Best Cross Examination as his team won the Quinnipiac Criminal Justice Competition. In addition to competing on Cumberland's National Trial Team, Lucas was a member of the Cumberland Trial Advocacy Board and a Caruthers Legal Research and Writing Teaching Fellow. In the spring of 2009, he was a recipient of the American Board of Trial Advocates Scholarship.
Lucas received his J.D. Degree from Cumberland in the spring of 2009 and was admitted to practice law in the State of Alabama upon passing the bar exam. Lucas primarily practices in the areas of litigation involving motor vehicle and trucking accidents, defective products, industrial/construction accidents, premises liability, fraud, bad faith and worker's compensation.
Lucas handles cases throughout the entire State of Alabama. He is admitted to practice before the Alabama Supreme Court as well as the United States District Courts. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar Association, Birmingham Bar Association, Alabama Association for Justice and American Association for Justice.
Lucas is married to Maleah Griffin, a CPA and graduate of the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business where she received her Master of Accountancy in 2004. Lucas and Maleah have two dogs and reside in Crestline Gardens Community of Birmingham, Alabama.
