- I became a plaintiff lawyer because I believe we are committed to protecting the rights of average citizens against abuse and harm. I enjoy my work because it affords me the opportunity to assist in the fight against unsafe products, lack of compliance with safety regulations, deceptive sales practices, and other risks to the personal and financial well-being of average people. Being of counsel, I have honed my legal reasoning and writing skills to supplement the trial skills of other attorneys in our firm.
The son of an Air Force pilot, I have lived in other parts of the world, including Austria, where I was born, and England, where I attended high school. I graduated from Stetson University in 1969, where I met Natalie, my wife of nearly 40 years. She is a professor of political science at Birmingham-Southern College and a jury consultant. We have two grown daughter' Gwen and Toni. Gwen and her husband Dave have given us the great gift of being grandparents to Ella, who was born in 2004. Toni lives in New York City and is the Executive Director of a not-for-profit theater, Studio Dante.
After graduation from Stetson, I completed three years of graduate coursework in political science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1972, I fulfilled my military obligation as an Air Force officer at Maxwell Field in Montgomery. We then moved to Birmingham. Following that, I was admitted to the University of Alabama School of Law and was awarded a degree in 1976. I am a member of the Florida Bar.
While family has always been central to my life, my passion is baseball, especially the kind played by the New York Yankees. In addition, I have a continuing interest in politics, contemporary art, mystery novels, and travel.
